Sandanaya wins Kandy Diistrict and Trincomalee District

In the Kandy District, the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA)
obtained 339,819 votes (60.77%) and earned 8 seats for those votes
received. Their closest contender the United National Party (UNP)
obtained 192,798 votes (34.48%) for which it earned half the number of
ruling party seats, which is 4.

The Democratic National Alliance (DNA) which came thrid in the Kandy
District managed to obtain only 23,728 votes (4.24%) for which it
earned no seats in the parliament.

In the Kandy District, the total number of Valid votes stood at
559,226 (90.55%) whilst the number Rejected was 58,333 (9.45%).
Therefore, the total number polled was recorded as 617,559 (63.64%).

Trincomalee District
The total number of valid votes stands at 43,454 (92.58%) with the
total number of rejected votes being 3,483 (7.42%). The total number
polled was 46,937 (54.15%).

The UPFA had won 2 seats for the 59,784 votes (42.78%) received and
the UNP had won 1 seat for the 39,691 votes (28.40%) they had
obtained. ITAK received a total of 33,268 votes (23.81%) for which
they have won 1 seat.

The total number of valid votes in the District of Trincomalee was
139,742 (93.17%). The number of rejected votes stood at 10,240
(6.83%). The total number polled was 149,982 (62.20%).
