Parliamentary Election - 2010 UPFA gets 5 seats in Hambantota

At the Parliamentary Election of 2010, the Final District Result for Hambantota District shows the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) receiving 174,808 votes (62.87%) giving them as many as 5 seats.

The main challenger United National Party (UNP) managed to get only 2 seats having received only 83,027 votes or 29.86%.

Once again, the Democratic National Alliance DNA managed to get just 19,186 votes or 6.90% which gives them no seat in the entire Hambanthota District. JVP is a part of the DNA and Hambanthota is a traditional JVP stronghold.

Total Valid votes were 278,054 ( 96.11% ) whilst 11,240 votes (3.89%) were rejected. Total Polled stood at 289,294 or 68.69%.
