The G-15 Summit will begin in Tehran on (today) Monday and it will be attended by leaders of 18 member countries including the Sri Lankan President. A notable feature will be the handing -over of the Chairmanship to President Rajapaksa by the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahamedinejad.
The Foreign Ministers of the Group met in Tehran sunday. The Foreign Ministers said that the receipt of its Chairmanship by Sri Lanka will be a massive strength for developing countries. The G-15 focuses on cooperation among developing countries in the areas of investment,
trade, and technology.
The upcoming Summit would review the strategies and policies of the Group on important international issues such as the current financial and economic crisis.
