President opens the National Tele-Cinema Park

President Mahinda Rajapaksa declared open the Ranmihitenna National Tele-Cinema Park which is a glowing tribute to the artistes.Interestingly, the Tele-Cinema Park was the brainchild of the President himself.

The Mahinda Rajapaksa National Tele-Cinema Village is the fulfillment of another pledge enunciated in the Mahinda Chinthana. The opening of the Tele-Cinema Park took place at an auspicious time last evening under the patronage of the President and the First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa. The opening took place amidst multi-religious observances.

The complex is being built in a sprawling 235 acres. The first stage of construction commenced in October 2008 and was completed at a cost of 600 million rupees. The total cost of the project is estimated at 2 billion rupees.

Opposition leader & Tylvin Silva doubt the reality

Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe had said that the construction work of the seaport at Hambantota has been limited to words, Minister Chamal Rajapaksa said. He said Tylvin Silva too has expressed a similar idea. The Minister said he will invite Tylvin Silva to the Hambantota seaport when it is filled, to have a sea water bath.

The first phase of the seaport at Hambantota will be completed by October and filled with water and the first ship will leave the seaport in December, the Minister of Port and Civil Aviation Chamal Rajapaksa said addressing a meeting held at Poulier Watta, Ambalantota yesterday.

The Minister pointed out that 28 industrial ventures will be set up providing jobs for the youths of the Southern Province and adjoining districts.

Tissamaharama electorate is the only electorate in Sri Lanka where a seaport and an airport will be constructed.
