President Mahinda Rajapaksa declared open the Ranmihitenna National Tele-Cinema Park which is a glowing tribute to the artistes.Interestingly, the Tele-Cinema Park was the brainchild of the President himself.
The Mahinda Rajapaksa National Tele-Cinema Village is the fulfillment of another pledge enunciated in the Mahinda Chinthana. The opening of the Tele-Cinema Park took place at an auspicious time last evening under the patronage of the President and the First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa. The opening took place amidst multi-religious observances.
The complex is being built in a sprawling 235 acres. The first stage of construction commenced in October 2008 and was completed at a cost of 600 million rupees. The total cost of the project is estimated at 2 billion rupees.
