විජයග්‍රහණයට රට පුරා සැමරුම් ජාතික උත්සවය 20දා

ත්‍රස්තවාදී ග්‍රහණයෙන් රටත් ජනතාවත් මුදාගෙන ලබාගත් විජයග්‍රහණයට වසරක් පිරීම නිමිත්තෙන් රණවිරුවන්ට ජාතියේ ප්‍රණාමය පුද කිරීමේ ජාතික රණවිරු සැමරුම් උත්සවය ලබන 20 දා ගාලුමුවදොර පිටියේදී සහ ශ්‍රී ජයවර්ධනපුර පාර්ලිමේන්තු ක්‍රීඩාංගණයේ පිහිටි රණවිරු ස්මාරකය අසළදී පැවැත්වේ.

ගාලු මුවදොර පිටියේ සහ පාර්ලිමේන්තු ක්‍රීඩාංගණය අසළ මේ රණවිරු උපහාර උත්සව පැවැත්වෙන්නේ මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ ජනාධිපතිතුමාගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙනි.

ගාලු මුවදොර පෙළපාළිය 20දා උදේ 8.30 ආරම්භ වේ. විජයග්‍රහණයේ පෙළපාළිය ලෙස හැඳින්වෙන මේ පෙළපාළියට සහභාගිවන්නේ මාවිල්ආරු සොරොව්ව මුදාගැනීමේ සිට ඉදිරියට ගොස්; නන්දිකඩාල් කලපුවේදී ප්‍රභාකරන්ගේ අවසානය සටහන් කළ මානුෂික මෙහෙයුමට සහභාගි වූ 53, 55, 57, 59 සේනාංක සහ 2 – 3 – 4 කාර්ය සාධක බළකායන්ය. මීට අමතරව මේ පෙළපාළියට නාවික – ගුවන් - පොලිසිය සහ සිවිල් ආරක්ෂක බළකායේ රණවිරුවෝ ද සහභාගිවෙති.

ජයවර්ධනපුර පාර්ලිමේන්තු ක්‍රීඩාංගණයේ රණවිරු ස්මාරකය අසළ 20 දා සවස 4.30ට රට ජාතිය වෙනුවෙන් දිවිපිදූ රණවිරුවන් සිහිපත් කිරීමේ උත්සවය පැවැත්වෙයි. ජාතියේ උත්තමාචාරය පුද කරන මේ වැදගත් මොහොතට මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ ජනාධිපතිතුමා ප්‍රධාන අමුත්තා වශයෙන් සහභාගිවේ.

ශ්‍රී ලංකා නාවුක හමුදාව විසින් ජාතිය වෙනුවෙන් පිදෙන ආචාර වෙඩි මුර උත්තමාචාරය ද 20 වැනිදා දහවල් 12ට නාවික හමුදා මූලස්ථානයේදී පැවැත්වේ.

ලබන 22 වැනිදා ආරක්ෂක අමාත්‍යාංශය සංවිධානය කරන පිරිත් සජ්ඣායනාවක් බණ්ඩාරනායක අනුස්මරණ අන්තර් ජාතික සම්මන්ත්‍රණ ශාලාවේදී පැවැත්වේ. මෙම පිරිත් සජ්ඣායනයට භික්ෂූන් වහන්සේ 3000 ක් දෙනා වැඩම කරනු ඇත. මීටත් අමතරව රට පුරා පළාත් හා ප්‍රාදේශීය මට්ටමින් රණවිරු උපහාර උත්සව රැසක් ද පැවැත්වේ.

G-15 Summit begins today

The G-15 Summit will begin in Tehran on (today) Monday and it will be attended by leaders of 18 member countries including the Sri Lankan President. A notable feature will be the handing -over of the Chairmanship to President Rajapaksa by the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahamedinejad.

The Foreign Ministers of the Group met in Tehran sunday. The Foreign Ministers said that the receipt of its Chairmanship by Sri Lanka will be a massive strength for developing countries. The G-15 focuses on cooperation among developing countries in the areas of investment,
trade, and technology.

The upcoming Summit would review the strategies and policies of the Group on important international issues such as the current financial and economic crisis.

The G-15 group comprises of developing countries representing the Asian, African and Latin American Continents

Victory Parade at Galle Face every May 18

The Government will hold the Victory Parade at the Galle Face on May 18 every year to mark Sri Lanka’s victory over terrorism, said Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. The Defence Secretary made this observation after the ceremonial opening of the monument erected at Elephant Pass in memory of war heroes yesterday.

The Victory Parade will be held on May 20 only for this year.

Emphatically stating that the Victory Parade was to mark the victory of all the communities in the country, Defence Secretary Rajapaksa said all communities will participate in this national event.

Reminding of the gains of the operation, the Defence Secretary said one of the main objectives of the operation was to free the Tamil people from the vicious grip of the LTTE. The Tamil people were held hostage by the LTTE and its vicious leader Prabakaran depriving them of their culture, education etc. The victory of the operation was mostly felt by the Tamil community of this country, he said.

He said a War Heroes Week will be held prior to the Victory Parade and at the end of the War Heroes Week the Victory Parade will be held with the participation of parents, wives and children and relatives of the war heroes
